This assignment is an exploration of composition and photographic reference. Each student is assigned a vintage photograph taken in Mantua, OH in the 1940, and are tasked with researching the time and location, in order to illustrator a book cover based on their findings.

Throughout the term, students are given sketchbook projects that are eventually integrated into major assignments. In this case, I joined the group in making a small painting of an object found on the ground.
